Our goals
Through this activity, I aim to address certain difficulties I’ve encountered myself as an artist and as an employee. I want to contribute to better representation of minorities in the music industry in general, with a particular affinity for electronic music.
Boosting diversity among artists in electronic music
In 2024, there is still insufficient diversity in the electronic music sector. When it comes to professionalisation, the presence of women or non-binary individuals on line-ups is still too low compared to other artists. The report (in French) from CNM “State of Women’s Presence in the Music Industry“, released in February 2023, provides a lot of data on this subject.
Providing simple, practical, and effective support
While initiatives are progressing positively, some organizers or festivals still lack resources or references to advance diversity. Through my activity, I also aim to build a significant network of professionals who will collectively contribute to the development of a more balanced programmation.
To develop diversity within the electronic music sector, here are some ideas I would like to explore (particularly through seeking funding to realise these projects and be proactive):
- Creation and development of a database/directory of female and non-binary artists within electronic music (an initial glossary exists in the psytrance scene and could serve as a basis – the idea is to expand it gradually).
- Facilitating contact and support for artistic collaborations (connecting artists, organising mentoring sessions, workshops, and training. Establishing artist residencies for co-production).
- Developing communication campaigns and cross-promotion for marginalised artists.
- Establishing partnerships between anti-discrimination organisations, producers, DJs, performers and festival organisers.
- Supporting the development of DJing courses exclusively for women and non-binary individuals (Get more info on Particular programme based in Lyon).
- Providing technical support for DJs (e.g., transitioning from software like Traktor to CDJs turntables, custom mapping for controllers, etc.)
